We had been practicing at Chris Whiteheads house for a few months and had a couple of original songs and several covers. A local rag (Center Stage) had an ad for a Battle of the Bands where the winner would get to be on MTV. We were all about it. We signed up, pooled our money and paid for the entry fee.The night of the show we were all nervous and excited. Here we are unloading our gear into a real club with a real stage. There were a few problems that night. First, they wouldn't let us use our sound guy. The levels might have been right for a band that had been onstage before but not for a band that had been practicing in a house. Second problem, we stunk. Yes it's true we stunk up the place. We were cut short and asked to leave the stage.
As we were unplugging and packing, one guy was going up the stairs and he yelled "You guys ROCK!" Now that guy was pretty drunk, but that was still AWESOME to us!
